Truxton

A simple up-the-screen blaster, Truxton is a fairly average example of the genre. Loads of power-ups, legions of baddies to blow up, raucous explosions and end-of-level bosses aplenty.

What We Said Then

Jaz: Truxton is a fine example of a pure, no-frills arcade blast.

Truxton

Matt: A great game that should be welcome in any shoot-'em-up fan's collection.

What We Say Now

Jaz: This is straightforward, simple blasting which is fun for a while, but gets pretty dull due to its lack of weapons and variety. Graphics should definitely drop - 71% would be about right because they're very simple, playability down to 75% and lastability down to 69%. Overall 71%. At the time there weren't many blasters around, but nowadays there are loads of better ones available.

Rich: Despite the massive amount of vertically scrolling blasters out for the Megadrive, Truxton remains a competent example of the genre. I'd take playability down to 79% and lower the overall mark to around 77%. It may have been surpassed technically since its release, but it's still a good blast.
