Well-known publishers Sunshine have produced three more books on a variety of topics.
Home Applications On Your Micro by Mike Grace, a regular contributor to several computer mags and author of the Commodore 64 adventures, is intended to provide you with practical ideas for using your micro.
It gives examples of how a database, spreadsheet and wordprocessor can help you in running your home, extending your hobbies and removing pen paper and book.
A good book for those looking for the answer to the question: "Very nice, but what can it do?" at a cost of £6.95.
Inside Your Spectrum by Jeff Naylor, author of several commercial computer games, and Diane Rogers, well-known in TV and Theatre management, is a guide to what is going on inside the case of the Spectrum.
The book is in two sections: the first deals with computer design and the second concentrates on the Spectrum, in particular the screen display, keyboard and sound.
I had a quick look at this one and at first sight it appears to be a clearly written, fascinating book, especially if you're interested in graphic work.
This one also costs £6.95.
All of these should be available from computer bookshops or from Sunshine, 12/13 Little Newport Street, London WC2R 3LD.
Programs are included to illustrate many of the points, and it is claimed that you are also introduced to the world of machine code programming gently via a monitor program and 'hands on' experiments.
A daunting task indeed and all for £6.95, I'll try and get our reviewer to give it his considered opinion in the next issue.
Machine Code Sprites And Graphics For The ZX Spectrum is the mouthful of a title for John Durst's book. He is a former film director who wanted to explore animation using a Spectrum.
Every chapter contains short Basic or machine code programs to perform specific tasks which may then be utilised in your own programs.
