Super Homebrew War

Bringing together many characters from the homebrew scene, Super Homebrew War is a multiplayer party game that no doubt is what Super Smash Bros would have been like had it existed in the NES days.

Players pick a character and stage and then try to score as many points as possible by jumping on the other players heads. The game has a nice Mario-esq visual design, which is rather fitting for a game that riffs on Smash Bros. The package is rounded out by some nice tunes and nice crisp and simple controls. The game offers 1 – 4 player mayhem, and any non players can be assigned to CPU control if you have no spare controllers or friends for that matter.

There are also a few different game modes as well as the standard game, Survival (which as expected has each player starting with a set number of lives and its last man standing), Chicken (kill the chicken to become one, as that's the only way to score points) and King of the Hill (stay in the flashing zone to score points).

All in all a great little multiplayer game that plays homage to its inspirations as well as other games in the homebrew scene. Get some friends and some beers round and enjoy!
