Strider

Converted from the highly popular coin-op, this platform slash-'em-up had a huge following and was one of the major Sega releases of 1990.

Overall 92%

What We Said Then

Jaz: One of the slickest conversions yet seen on the Megadrive.

Strider

Matt: Stunning in every respect.

What We Say Now

Jaz: This is still great, although it's not quite and smooth and slick as I remember. Presentation should stay the same, graphics down to 90% (the animation is a bit ropey by today's standards), sound 81% (it's a bit tinny), playability 92%, lastability 85% and overall 86%.

It's still good, but hasn't got enough in it these days to be a Megagame.

Rich: I agree. Strider is still very playable today, but there's just not enough in it to warrant the £40 price tag. I actually bought the game when it first came out - and completed it the next day... very disappointing. However, I still unearth it for a quick play every now and again (about every six months actually!).

This would be a great buy for inexperienced players.
