Stayfysh Remix

An update of 2017's horizontally-scrolling shoot-'em-up, the new version adds extra music, a separately loaded music demo and a multiload. In 2195, human survivors live on a space station that is now under attack by the same aliens that devastated Earth.

Four separate zones await, filled with narrow gaps to squeeze through and waves of aliens to take down. The biggest problem with the original game was its simplistic level design and boring attack waves, and this has not changed in the remix. It lacks powerups or enemy turrets/guns to make things interesting, and the multi-load (just for the sake of different music) leaves you with repetitive enemies and the same boring attack waves.

In fact in some places the level design is downright unfair, putting enemies in the only clear path. Shaun Pearson’s graphics are distinctive and nicely drawn, presentation is good (including an impressive Jonathan Eggleton bitmap in the music demo) and the music tracks are worth a listen – but the remix gave a real opportunity to add more to the gameplay, and it was missed.
