Squish

Squish is one of those auto-scrolling endless runner games that seem to be so popular on mobiles these days.

I don't think there's much of a plot - although, I suppose explaining why a bouncing cat is, um, bouncing across an endless supply of platforms doesn't really require one. Regardless of the wheres and whys you know the drill, Squish moves from left to right automatically and you have to manoeuvre him through the landscape to avoid him meeting his untimely demise. I suspect Squish was intended to be more of a tech demo rather than a full game, as we have some seriously impressive scrolling going on here for the NES - fast and fluid with no stuttering.

However, as a game there isn't really much here, there's no music or indeed any sound whatsoever, the stage despite being random offers little in terms of variety, and once you fail to make a jump it's back to the start.

There are no objectives, nothing to collect, and no goals of any sort - except to just survive for as long as you can. There's a life allegory in there somewhere. In conclusion Squish is an impressive piece of scrolling, but as a gameplay experience comes hard to recommend.
