The fastest mouse in me-hico zips into view!
Speedy Gonzales: Aztec Adventure
It's been a while since we've heard anything from Speedy Gonzales but he's returned to the Game Boy in fine form, and now more colourful than ever! The action in Aztec Adventure remains platform-based, but you'll notice that the nippy mouse has a problem, and it's got nothing to do with him moving too fast or wanting cheese!
All the mice in Mexico have vanished and it's up to the famous little rodent to travel at the speed of light and snap the little cheese-munchers up. It's not that easy either, as there are six levels split into three stages each.
This means that the Sonic The Hedgehog-style action is broken up into different skills. You'll need to perfect some pole-hopping on springboards, test your all-out running speed while leaping enemies and you'll also end up completely underwater in Water Country.
The levels use the usual fire, water and wind themes that you expect to see in this type of game, but the graphics and the actual speed of play make Speedy a good bet for the more hardcore gamer - that is, the kind of person who cracked the Mario and Wario Land games with ease.
If you're a stranger to platform games, this might be that little bit too difficult, but as an entertaining title for the Game Boy expert, it will be great fun trying to find Sylvester and rescue the missing mice. Just don't mention Sonic the Hedgehog because - "Ariba! Ariba!" - Speedy is even faster!
Second Opinion
Rich couldn't have put it better - this game is basically Sonic The Hedgehog but with mice and cheese instead of flea-bitten hedgehogs and rings. It's pretty cool too, and one of the best-looking Looney Tunes games to appear on the Game Boy Color.
With lots of levels, plenty of variety and some of the world's favourite characters, this game is an absolute must!
Ariba! Ariba!
Think you're fast? You better had be because right from the start, Speedy Gonzales won't leave you time to breathe! Be prepared to hurtle around the levels at silly speeds - keeping up with this energetic little mouse is a tough task!
