This is a computer version of the board game, also known as Othello, and can be played by two people against each other or by one player against the computer. Reversi is a sort of thinking man's draughts, originally plaed with counters on an eight by eight board.

Full instructions for playing the computer version, including rules and playing hints, are supplied. The tape loaded first time, trying RUN produced a menu of options. The full range of options is superb; one or two players, sample game, change sides, choice of who starts, replay game, set up board and nine levels of play.

The program is written in machine code and has a fast response. At level one it's almost instantaneous, although at higher levels it slows down considerably. The screen display is set out simply and clearly with an update score displayed. Moves are entered by letter-number, D6 for example, and invalid moves are not allowed. The program seems to be well error-trapped - it resisted my best efforts to confuse it.

It has just about all the features that both beginners and experts are likely to need and its playability ability is high indeed. I refuse to say how many times it beat me at level one.
