It's all guns, guns, guns!
Rainbow Six
If you've played Rainbow Six on the PC or Nintendo 64 then you must be wondering how they could possibly produce a decent version on the Game Boy Color. If you've got a PlayStation, on the other hand, then you're probably hoping it won't be that rubbish!
Rainbow Six in hand-held form rather amazingly manages to include all the elements of the big brother versions, only in a slightly squashed down form! Crawfish Interactive has managed to push the limits of the Game Boy to include all the features that made the PC and N64 versions such successes - except for the multi-player mode, that is.
From the moment you switch Rainbow Six on, you know you're in for a treat. Everything from the Team Selection screen through the planning stage to the actual Assault mode is in here - this is quite simply the best Redstorm could have done with the game!
Once you've chosen your teams and assigned them their equipment, you get to plot their actions on the Planning screen. From there, it's just a few simple steps to the action! Moving the teams is incredibly easy too, and considering that your men are only a few pixels high, it's pretty easy to work out what's going on.
The first-person view really brings things to life and ensures that the Game Boy Color title is every bit as absorbing as the original. If you've always fancied yourself as a bit of a counter-terrorism master then this game is the one for you!
Second Opinion
When a software company decides that it's going to make a conversion of a 32-bit hit for the Game Boy, you just know it's got something special up its sleeve!
Rainbow Six was a brilliant PlayStation game, and it makes a great hand-held strategy game too! It's not one for the younger readers out there, with lots of guns and violence, but if you want a hardened game to play on the bus, try this one for size.
