Populous

Become a God and control the destiny of your people using your divine powers to help them to eradicate their enemies in this 3D isometric perspective, icon-driven game.

What We Said Then

Jaz: One of the most addictive games you'll ever play.

Matt: Simply brilliant.

What We Say Now

Populous

Jaz: This is still as brilliant now as it was then and would get roughly the same score. However, be warned - the game is definitely an acquired taste and not many players will enjoy its subtleties.

Rich: I enjoyed this for a while - until I found out that there was very little difference between the 900-odd levels.

That being the case, I grew tired of the game very quickly. I'd recommend waiting for Virgin's Mega-Lo-Mania or EA's Powermonger before checking this one out. I'd probably award a mark of around 79% to this game now.
