It takes a warped mind

Mindwarp

Mindwarp was sent to me with only a covering letter, no instructions and no packaging. On loading, you are greeted by a tune and some comments rolling along the bottom of the screen, these messages being the only way to tell what keys to use. Continuing on from here, into the heart of the game your object is a very small spaceship, which can be moved in the usual directions: up, down, left and right - fire is also a vital function!

The idea of the game (as far as I can see), is to progress through the various and numerous waves, shooting at everything that comes at you. This game is not very original and, for an Arc game, is not astounding at all. If I were asked to compare it to another game, I would probably go for Galaforce, although Galaforce is about five times better.

Some of the sprites, which move in different ways across the screen, are neatly drawn but in no way show off the capabilities of the Arc. There is absolutely no skill whatsoever in shooting at the waves, and it is just pot luck if you manage to kill every enemy in a wave.

The only novel feature, which as I had no documentation I cannot full explain, is that when you shoot the enemy they quite often release blue balls which can be collected to gain extra weapons and features, such as a quick firing machine gun.
