Golden Oldies

This collection of 10 golden oldies from Micro Power has been put together just in time for Christmas.

In Killer Gorilla, Kong has kidnapped your beloved and carried her to the top of a scaffolding tower.

Climb the tower to rescue her but watch out for the barrels which the monster monkey throws your way.

In the graphical geography quiz Where?, you must identify rivers, towns and peaks as they are highlighted on a map of the United Kingdom.

The first of the space games on offer is Martian Attack - defend your base while shooting the martian raiders.

This is a game in which a joystick is essential if you are to score more than a couple of thousand points.

Stock Car was one of the first games that I ever reviewed for The Micro User. A game for one or two players in which you power your way around one of six circuits. One of my old favourites.

Eldorado Gold is a simple adventure game written in Basic in which you search Eldorado county for Bill McClusky's treasure.

In Plutonium Plunder you are trapped in a maze with walls cons tructed from hexoid pods. Kill the mutant gnomes by crushing them with a pod.

Whatever you do don't take too long or you'll never live to regret it. When I loaded up Barrage I expected the worst. Two opposing gun emplacements firing on each other across a cross sectional drawing of the terrain.

Enter values for trajectory, velocity and spread then watch the result - fantastic!

Dune Rider is set on the moon. Drive your moon buggyat high speed across the lunar landscape, jump over lava pools and rocks while blast ing the aliens which swarm overhead - a fast and furious game.

Nemesis involves a convoy of aliens flying down the screen towards you. Every time they strike an asteroid they change direction.

The last offering in this compendium is Labyrinths of La Coshe, another adventure game. Unfortunately it is a pretty crude one which fails to understand much adventure language.

Micro Power Magic cannot be faulted when considered in terms of value for money, even if some of the titles are a little long in the tooth.
