This is another TCS machine code game which again has an Algray equivalent (Blastaroids). As in the Kong comparison, Algray uses the LGR screen and this one uses the FGR screen. At the outset, I will say that I prefer this version, but the Algray one scores more on key response.

The idea of the game is that you are in control of a spaceship that is stuck in a meteoroid storm. You can blast away at the meteoroids - big ones fragment into smaller ones and if you blast the smallest ones then they vaporise to nothing. When you clear all the drifting meteorites then you start again. If a meteroid collides with you then you lose a life, of which you have four.

All the expected features of the now famous "Asteroids" game are there - hyperjump, thrust, rotate and fire plus a star that slowly homes in on you and a nasty UFO that doesn't like you.

The game is fast with excellent graphics and good sound effects. The meteoroids are large with very decent explosion effects. One particularly good feature is that, though your ship can only point in eight directions, you can fire in 32 of them!

"Asteroids" is always a hard game to achieve but Meteor is a very authentic version which I am sure will delight any Genie owner who enjoys playing the original in the arcades. It works on any Colour Genie.
