It's Tetris - but not as we know it!

Magical Tetris Challenge

Ever heard the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"? Well, Magical Tetris Challenge takes one of the greatest games of all time and tries to improve on it. To some extent, this game does make for more fun than the classic Russian original as you have some all-new pieces to play with and a quest adventure-style game to spice up the gameplay.

Where this cart really does drop like a brick, though, is with the actual game itself. The blocks don't fall or handle anywhere near as smoothly as the original Tetris, and it's not as if we're exactly talking rocket science here! This makes speedy play near the top of the rack a hell of a lot more frantic than it should be, but if you can forgive this, there is a good game to be found underneath the rubble.

The new Magical Tetris bricks on their own make a familiar game seem new again. The first time you see the new M, T or other new shapes you will find yourself panicking, unsure of what to do or where to put them! The Quest game admirably attempts to throw a storyline in between a variety of Tetris battles where the idea is to complete set challenges by Disney characters and collect coins. If you've already got the original Tetris, it's not really worth picking this up unless you're a huge puzzle fan. On the other hand, if you don't have a Tetris-game yet, then pick this up - you won't be disappointed.

Second Opinion

Magical Tetris Challenge

Tetris was the first game to ever be packed in with the Game Boy, many many years ago, and it's good to see that it can still cut the mustard today, with so many other puzzlers around!

If you've never managed to get yourself a copy of this timeless classic, Magical Tetris Challenge is perfect, combining the classic gameplay with a bunch of Disney characters!

You'll certainly have a job putting it down! Great stuff!
