Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000

If you're looking purely for a racing game with few distractions then Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 is for you... particularly if you like motorbikes! You get to choose the rider you desire from a selection of mean-looking geezers and are able to choose the engine size of your bike to suit your own skill and experience. Before you begin racing you are also shown a helpful aerial view of the track.

The difficulty of this game depends on how many bends the tracks contain. The first track is called Slightly Loopy and does not require as much steering as future levels. As with any type of racing game, there are various obstacles around the edges of each of the tracks. It is best to try to memorise the positioning of these during the first few laps. This will enable you to prepare avoidance techniques - in other words, turn the bike in time to prevent a crash!

A problem with this game is that there are few rewards along the way. It would be more interesting and motivating to play if there were some power-ups to collect. This game is based on real motocross courses though, which explains the lack of motivational rewards during the journey. The motivation has to be in the winning! The graphics are not brilliant - if you want to see clear characters, then this is not the game for you!

Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000

However, the idea of this game is to encourage the player to race around extremely loopy tracks fast and effectively. If you are an experienced Game Boy racer, then you are likely to enjoy this game as much as any other racing title. Having said that, this game is nothing new, it has very few original qualities and it can become frustrating if you are not used to playing racing games on the Game Boy.

Second Opinion

I can't believe this McGrath bloke has the nerve to use 'Jeremy' on his game - that's copyright me! The game's not that brilliant anyway - it looks okay, but when you're racing around the same boring track for the umpteenth time you really do start to wonder why you're bothering!

Racing game fans might enjoy this, but it was all just a little bit too samey for my liking.
