As you stand on the side of the freeway, you look across and see a blur of traffic driving at
incomprehensible speeds. Your heart beats faster and faster but you know you can make it to the other side,
across all of the lanes of traffic if you run like you've never run before.
You see a break in the traffic and you tense up, building up the courage to go. And then you run as fast as you can as the cars get
closer and closer.... can you make it across? In Jay Walker, you have the opportunity to defy death by taking on the ultimate
challenge – running across a busy freeway avoiding the traffic and making it to the other side. Then repeating the feat over again
through increasingly busy and faster freeways. Are you up to the challenge of Jay Walker?
The game screen reflects a busy freeway – which gets busier and faster as the levels increase. Your player character must move left
or right, crossing the freeway, while avoiding the stream of traffic, to reach the other side. As you reach the other side of the freeway,
your character will take position to run back across the freeway until you reach the top of the screen. Once you reach the top of
the screen, you will be transported to the next freeway with an increasing challenge through the available levels.
There are ten unique levels to Jay Walker, which are repeated on completion but with faster car and player movement – with up to
four different speed levels, giving a total of 40 levels. Beyond the 40 levels, the challenge will repeat on the fastest speed level to allow
you to build up your score. Jay Walker plays a lot like Activision's Freeway. This is video gaming at its purest, simplest and most fun
form. No complex controls. No detailed environments. Success will often depend on getting the right momentum or just dumb luck.
