In Jack And The Beanstalk, your task is to guide young Jack up the beanstalk to the giant's castle in the sky to steal his bags of gold. Once you have successfully collected the booty, you must escape back to your house before the giant catches you.
To help you whilst in the giant's castle, there is a pickaxe which you can use to dig holes to trap him and the wandering snails that impede your progress. There is a time limit set to complete your task and the quicker you manage to do it the higher your bonus points. Further points are scored for killing the snails and collecting the golden eggs and harps.
The giant only chases you down to the lower screen where your house and the beanstalk are if you have collected his bags of gold. Then you
must clamber down the beanstalk quickly and get the axe to chop it down before he catches you.
Although this may all sound pretty exciting stuff, in reality it's very mundane. What we have here is another ladders and levels game but not
one that has sufficient new ideas to make it any more memorable than others of its genre. The graphics are okay but nothing that hasn't been
done before, and the sound is nothing special either.
Jack And The Beanstalk is not one for my collection I'm afraid and I doubt if it will find favour with many other people either.
