As the manager of a multi
storey bank, in Heist from
Softspot you have to sort out the
chaos at the end of the day.
Your incompetent staff has
left money scattered about the
bank in bags, and to add to your
problems four burglars are out
to stop you recovering them and
returning them to the vault.
Although outnumbered you
have certain aids. There are
hammers in the top left and
bottom right corners of the
screen.
Once you have one you can
knock a burglar out and he will
stay down for a random time.
However you cannot carry a
hammer up or down ladders and
if you knock a robber down on a
bag of money you cannot pick it
up. But you do receive points for
each bag of money deposited in
the vault.
Cups of tea appear randomly
on screen. Drinking them not
only refreshes you but entitles
you to extra points.
Occasionally a burglar plants
a time bomb which you have
about 10 seconds to reach and
defuse before it blows up.
If you have survived long
enough to have collected all the
money bags and deposited them
in the vault the bank opens for a
new day with the robbers even
more determined to thwart you.
If however you are not so
fortunate the Death March plays
and you change into a rather
comical angel which floats off up
the screen.
Heist is for one player and
includes a high score table.
There are the usual options to
freeze the game or switch off the
sound.
A tune plays in the back
ground all the time, and the
sound off facility comes in very
handy as the tune, although
pleasant, gets a little tedious
after a while.
The game is consistently
appealing, making excellent use
of graphics and sound.
It loaded first time, is
attractively packaged and the
instructions are clear and concise.
