Happy Blocks DX

The original Happy Blocks was a game designed to be played during the tape loading of another game, but this is an updated and improved version.

Now the falling cubes have animation, and the different types are revealed in a short introductory sequence. The basic aim is to move your block to find the gap in the falling blocks, with the option of using a "drop boost" by pressing Fire to earn more points. After 20 sets of blocks have fallen, the speed of the game increases. The high score table is ranked on points, with the length of time the player survived also recorded.

Another key addition to the game is the sampled sounds and speech (done by Richard himself); I do like the 'Fiddlesticks' at game over, but the quality of the samples recorded with a mobile phone could have been better. It’s a simple enough game, well presented but ultimately with little depth.
