Who would have thought that someone would produce a Star Trek game for the Colour Genie. Well to give you a surprise, someone has (Now there are two! - Ed). No, it's not Space Invaders or Blastaroids, this game is addictive. Mr. Fowler has already written a few programs for Gumboot, so you will imagine he has had a lot of practice. You are a starship captain and have been given orders - I will not reveal them as that would spoil the surprise.

You have a wide range of commands you can issue to your on-board computer - all to quite a lot. There is a game similar to this on the Video Genie, but this one for the Colour Genie is better and it has nice sound and graphic effects.

You can set your course and update it. You fly the starship to where you want and when you come under attack, you can shoot the Klingons and other nasties with your photon torpedoes. After battle you can see what damage has been done by informing the computer. There are a *lot* more functions on the program (short and long range scans, etc) but it would take up the whole magazine to write about them all. There is a long booklet that comes with the tape.

My overall verdict is an excellent program with good sound and graphics. The program is written in Basic but that doesn't spoil the enjoyment. A very addictive game.

Ed's note: Adrian is the nephew of Malcolm Fowler, the author, in case you're wondering. However, I can vouch that the review is accurate!
