There are three types of screen editor - the line, memory and text editor. As Colour Genie owners we have to be content with the line editor along with its complicated list of commands that we need to memorise. Fear not, help is at hand! At only £5.75 the Full Screen Editor by Richard Bang must be one of the best utilities we can buy.

The idea is simple - you move a second "copy cursor" around the screen using the shifted arrow keys (unfortunately, this stops the normal tab command from being activated by shift right, but this is a very small price to pay). Anything you want to add to your new line can be copied complete or built up from the parts of other lines as well as input from the keyboard. Remember there are no clumsy editing command sequences to struggle with, making the Full Screen Edition much easier to use than the in-built line editor. Also, the original version is displayed for easy comparison. And what is more, you can alter line numbers without having to retype the whole line - what a boon!

It comes with excellent instructions and the program itself only takes up 200 bytes or so from your precious memory. In answer to MEM SIZE type 48382 (32K version) or 31999 (16K). Load in the tape which takes just a few seconds, and it is as easy as that. Use it every time you are going to type listings or write programs and you will soon become used to using the Full Screen Editor, and, as claimed by the author, you will never have to type EDIT again.
