Ewgeebez

This one was written by Mat Newman, author of the excellent Fortress; however Ewgeebez bears no relation to that game.

You guide a space craft round a maze of which you can see only a small part at any one time (it's 100 screens big). Your aim is to pick up twelve crystals which will allow you to escape the maze.

Hassling you en route are a series of nasties, some of them of intriguing design, but usually you can blast them out of the way.

One which is pretty hard to get past spends its time chucking explosives all over the place. Another sends out powered probes in two directions, and you have to time your approach and shoot carefully. The background graphics, however, are much less interesting.

I really enjoyed playing this game and found my fingers itching to map it out. The only thing is, I don't think it would take that long to solve.
