Dan Dare 2

Daniel Dare is a really hard bloke from that famous comic strip which our own Oli Frey once worked on. The second version of the computer game featured on the cover of Issue 37 and, unlike the first, was more shoot-'em-up than interactive comic strip.

Flying around four huge Mekon interiors, you've got to destroy all the foetal Treens you find and then escape to the next level before the whole complex blows you into a million little Dan-ettes.

I really enjoyed this when it first came out, and it's a very welcome re-release; amazingly colourful graphics, some neat sound effects (even if they're a bit sparse) and brilliant fast-action gameplay. The only qualm I had with it was the lastability: I finished it within a couple of days' constant play, though a lot of mapping was essential to success.

At this price it's a steal, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Great cheap fun.
