You've got to work hard, you've got to work...
Construction Zone
If you have ever wanted to get behind the wheel of a huge, mean constructing machine, then this is probably the closest you'll get for the moment.
There are eleven CAT machines at your disposal to build and move things with and five mission-packed levels to use them in. Jumping into the role of the driver of these vehicles, you must find your foreman and carry out the specific jobs he has waiting for you. These include moving giant boulders and even making a community swimming pool for the new neighbourhood. Okay, it may not seem like much fun, but there is a certain charm in this game that makes you love every diesel-burning minute of it.
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
If there are any real complaints to be made about the game then they involve the actual handling of the machines themselves. There is a lot of reversing and moving to be done and depending on which direction you want to head off in, the controls change functions. At times this can be a little difficult to get your head around. Also, it's not the most challenging game ever and it's over almost before it's begun.
Still, the game is extremely endearing and if you ever find yourself with a moment or two to spare, it can be easily slipped into for a bit of 'build them up, knock them down' action. It's one of those few games that you can easily fall in love with. Most of all, for the wimp in us all, Construction Zone is your chance to do a manly job and feel like your dad!
Second Opinion
I agree with Paul for perhaps the first time in recorded history - Construction Zone is a belter of a game. A totally original idea for a game that could have ended up as dull as digging a hole in your back garden - in the rain!
Thankfully, it's simply brimming with charm and, although it can get a little repetitive (go pick up a log, drop it in hole, repeat and so on), the novel feeling of driving a tractor past a field of cows rather than killing aliens in some futuristic dungeon makes this a brilliant game nonetheless.
