A game of cars, speed and dodgy-looking blood!

Carmageddon

If you've ever seen the film Death Race 2000, you'll already have a good idea what Carmageddon is all about. An original racing game with a simpe idea: instead of racing circuits you race city streets from checkpoint to checkpoint, ramming other cars and innocent bystanders as you go! Unfortunately, like the N64 version of this game, originally a PC hit, it's a wasted opportunity on the Game Boy.

The game wouldn't, in fact, be so bad if it weren't for the controls, which, after a few minutes of play become truly insufferable. The problem comes from the fact that the car can physically only turn eight direction - not exactly what you want when travelling at high speeds.

Admittedly, you can make the car seemingly slide sideways with minute traps of the D-pad but this doesn't help the situation at all. Steer clear of this one!
