As expected from this software offshoot of record industry giants
Virgin, this and all the other Virgin Games' BBC software
titles are well packaged and attractively presented.
The nice thing is that the programs inside live up to expectation.
Bug Bomb has you chasing frenetically around a block of electric
grids trying desperately to avoid deadly fast moving and
brightly coloured bugs. These resemble flourescent IC chips as
they shoot around the grid. As you are pursued, you can fire
energy blasts at the bugs to destroy them but if you miss the
blasts remain active and bounce about destroying everything they
hit - and that includes you.
Just to liven things up a bit more there are also some nasty
green bullets flying about which prove just as destructive. Often
it is best to keep well out of the way and let the nasties
self-destruct but it's easier said than done, especially when you
have progressed to the more advanced and very fast stages.
The use of sound is excellent, especially the percussive
"bounce" of the energy blasts. The graphics are attractive but
not spectacular and there are the usual hall of fame facilities
to record the scores.
