Quiz Has Style

A high standard of programming is combined with simplicity of use in British Isles Geography Quiz, by Computer Market Software.

The program is based on the well-established idea of using computer graphics to generate a map while indicating a number of randomised locations to be correctly identified by a multiple choice quiz.

Unlike most of its predecessors, however, it has certain refinements. The use of simpler graphics in order to incorporate a large range of questions is one of its most noticeable.

Instead of representing a large number of countries in assorted colours the program uses two colours to produce a high resolution silhouette of the British Isles while still retaining enough memory to store 345 separate locations.

As one would expect with questions in multiple choice format, additional marks are awarded for speed and accuracy.

Each place is indicated by means of a cross-hair cursor at the end of a pointer and the player is given a maximum of 30 seconds in which to answer.

The score is determined by the remaining time as wellas a figure calculated from the number of attempts required, of which a possible nine are allowed.

The program indicates any incorrect guesses on the table of possible answers, as well as pointing out the proper location of the places incorrectly guessed.

Overall this is one of the better presented and more easily used programs of its type and at its proposed price of only £1.99 it is well worth considering as a useful addition to almost any software collection.
