Go on... reel it in!
Black Bass Lure Fishing
Get ready to let those reels scream! Black Bass Lure Fishing combines 3D action and 'reel'-time fishing on Game Boy! Now there's no need to look on with envy at the bigger console, 'cos Nintendo's foray into the watery, fish-eyed world of lures, slime and high tension is every bit as playable. You're one of a hundred rod benders taking part in the Black Bass Tournament. It's divided into three classes: one being the best, so you start in Class three. To go up the classes, you have to raise your weight average, so make sure you catch lots of slimy critters!
There are two different lakes to choose from: Clear and Storm, each requiring different techniques to 'bag up' the maximum number of bass. To begin with, move your boat around until the desired swim is found, simply flip open your electronic tackle box and choose from one of eight lures (only three are available at first - you've got to earn the rest). Casting couldn't be easier - let the red power bar go up then cast the direction you want. Depending on which lure you've chosen - it could be the hoppin' frog or wigglin' worm, the behaviour below (or on top) of the water changes.
Make sure you don't let the tension get too tight or 'ping!' the line will snap. Black Bass Lure Fishing is absorbing and fun, because you never quite know where the next fish is going to take a nibble. Now then, where's that flash of stewed tea...
Second Opinion
It never ceases to amaze me how many fishing games get released on consoles. Surely the whole point of fishing is getting out in the open air and back to nature!
Oh well, this is a fun little jaunt into the world of fishing. Nothing amazing, but if you don't like getting your tackle out - give it a spin!
