If you've tired ofthe courses provided by Holed Out!! and the Extra
Courses 1 and 2 why not get hold of the Designer and create a few
rounds of your own?
Booting up the disc gives you the option of playing orediting. Choosing the latter
puts you on to a screen where the files available on the current disc are listed.
When you first start there's a file called Templates which consists of 18 identical
holes for you to modify.
From there you go to the main editing screen where the first hole is presented in
plan view with a grid to help you align the obstacles. The bottom of the screen lists all
your options - and there are plenty of them - while the top gives basic statistics like
length, par, hole number and memory remaining.
To design a new hole you select the new option which clears out old data and
asks for the statistics of the hole. From there the process isextremely simple. You
select the terrain type - rough, fairway, water, path or bunker - then locate a centre
position. From here you draw triangles based around the first point, the last point
clicked and the new one.
You can build almost any shape in this way. Trees are added separately and you
can have up to 96 of them.
Once you've finished the hole you have to write it back to memory and then save
the whole course. From the Designer you can view the course from any position -
this displays how the main screen would appear if you were playing from there.
The Holed Out Designer is very easy to use and it makes a perfect complement
to the original game.
