Arcade Muscle

"Assault your computer with five action-packed arcade smashes," the blurb proudly boasts. Better rephrase that as "Insult your computer..." because this box (the illustration on which is the best thing about the whole deal) just doesn't come close to making the grade. They're all dull arcade conversions that lack the original magic that make them a success.

The best of a bad lot is 1943, which is at least diverting, but there are some real donkeys to drag it down. Bionic Commando is colourless and characterless, Street Fighter was overrated in Amstrad Action when it originally scored 51%, and even 1943 didn't rate a Rave, let alone a Mastergame.

Verdict

Lots of gloss and a nice cover but desperately short on class.
