3D Combat Zone

3D Combat Zone is similar in nature to the arcade game, Combat Zone. Unfortunately, it suffers from some conditions not encountered on the original.

But before I go into these I feel bound to tell you a little about the game itself. You are in control of a tank on a landscape. There are 3D tanks seeking you out through the 3D objects on the landscape. In the tradition of the original, all objects are in outline. As time goes on, other weird and wonderful enemies appear, their object being, of course, to obliterate you.

This particular implementation, which is the first for the Spectrum I might add, suffers from jerky movement, slow reactions and an over-intelligent enemy which I found almost impossible to destroy.

Shortly, other software companies should have their own versions of the game on the market (what these will be like we can but guess) but full marks to Artic for being the first.
