Wells & Fargo ============= Game Objective -------------- You control the famous Wells & Fargo stagecoach. The aim is to ensure as many of your passengers as possible get safely to their destination. That means, you need to use them to avoid or kill: 1. ranch-hands, who hide behind boulders or bushes, 2. bandits, who hide in the ramshackle villages you'll pass through, 3. indians, who sit by the roadside, and 4. horsebacked gallutes, who draw alongside the stage, guns drawn. Watch out for the potholes that also litter the road. These will unbalance our heroes just as easily as a bullet between the eyes. How To Play ----------- There are four stagecoach "runs" to conquer. From the main menu, you can choose a one- or two-player game. In the one-player game, the same player must both control the stagecoach and protect the passengers from the outlaws. One passenger "rides" the stagecoach, taking the reins of the horses so the "defending" player can concentrate on defending it. C can be used to toggle between the characters. In the two player game, player one controls the stagecoach. Player two protects the passengers from the outlaws. Passengers are divided equally by type. You will see the number of passengers of each type (beginning with seven) in the status bar. The "defenders" are on the left; the "riders" on the right. If all "defenders" are killed, the final "riders" will have no choice but to play exactly as per the one player game. The centre of the overhead status bar shows the stagecoach itself. Each collision with a pothole drains the stagecoach. If drained to nothing, it will be destroyed. Hints ----- You need to position your "defender" correctly, judging the angle of his weapon and the distance he is from each enemy. If the defender is aware that the stagecoach is about to go over a pothole, he can lie down in order to hang onto the stagecoach. Unfortunately he cannot shoot from such a position. When two players attempt the game, the major difficulty is that, as player one moves the stagecoach, he will adjust the angle from which player two is aiming at the enemies.
