BEATLE QUEST



Life on space station nine, in the year

2953, is sedate and peaceful.  It is also

very boring.  Gone are the worries of

everyday life; all your needs are catered

for by the supreme machine, Sel-taeb, 4.



The last pioneers left for Betelgeuse

over two centuries ago.  There is nothing

left to do but wait, as you circle the

worn out Mother-Earth far below.



Wait, and it may be you and your generation

that receives the news that New Earth has

been found.



As 'keeper-of-the-Archives', a treasure

house of all the remnants of Earth's

history, it will be your responsibility

to ensure that New Earth has access to its

past, ancestral beginnings.



Your work, at present, is concerned with

pre-Dark-Times mythology, particularly

researching into the ballads of the so-

called "New" Renaissance Minstrels.



You listen, in wonder, of places long

ago, peopled by exotic characters, in

the reign of the "Four Kings of Emi";

you listen in awe at the sound of

cultural battles with "their Satanic

Majesties".



Your imagination is caught by the vivid

descriptions of the colourful lands,

described in the ballads.



You long for excitement; to return to

the magical lands of Emi; to tour the

mysteries that lay there.  All you need 

is.....love, emotion, experience and

maybe even death itself.



And so you steal into the 'dome-of-

pleasure', where you feed all known

information about the 'Four Kings' into

the data-banks.



Time travel is still not an assured

reality, but within the pleasure-dome,

fantasies become reality.  You may even

find something of interest or value to

return with.



The lights dim as you lie on the couch,

and a voice booms out, above the strains

of "Yesterday"......."Welcome......".



Loading Beatle Quest



Beatle Quest is a 32K program, which

was written using the Quill.

The program is recorded on both sides

of the enclosed cassette.



To load Beatle Quest, hold down the SHIFT 

key and press the RUN/STOP key, at the

same time.  Insert the cassette and press

'play' on the tape deck.

Beatle Quest will load and run automatically.



Beatle Quest takes about 12 minutes to

load.

We make no apologies for this, but we

believe that you will have far less loading

problems than with a "turbo" loader.

It will be worth the wait.



Playing Beatle Quest



Beatle Quest is a complex text adventure

game with over 150 locations, 200 messages

and 60 objects etc.



You will have to solve a number of puzzles

and complete certain actions, whilst

collecting objects of interest and value.



To play Beatle Quest, load it from cassette

and then type in your instructions, when

the computer asks you, "What now?", or

something similar.



You should enter simple "verb, noun"

sentences, such as; OPEN THE DOOR, WASH

THE DISHES or EXAMINE THE KNITTING NEEDLES.

The computer will then respond to your

instructions, in one way or another.



Beatle Quest may take you weeks or months

to solve, so to save frustration you may

"SAVE" your present position and then

"RESTORE" it at a later date.



Remember; don't forget your "filename"

for your "saved game", make a note of it.



Your Score



In Beatle Quest you can score points by

collecting all objects of interest and

value and returning them to the start

location.  You will also have to perform

certain actions to score points.



To complete Beatle Quest you will have

to score the maximum number of points

and have collected and returned with,

the appropriate objects to the start 

location.



Hints.



Bear in mind that Beatle Quest is based

on Beatles lyrics and wherever possible,

'story-lines' of songs have been followed.
