Metal Man Reloaded ================== Metal Man Reloaded ------------------ Oleg Origin's Cyberpunk Masterpiece New York in the near future. The city's criminal gangs have united together to form a vast and powerful criminal network. With the help of machines and technology, their hold on society is absolute. They do what they want, when they want, and are offered full protection by the corrupt government and their law enforcement agencies. Those who get in their way are executed, along with their families. However, some refuse to accept this situation and continue to work underground as incorruptible agents of the law, challenging the crime syndicate and the crooked government that allows them to exist. One of these people is former police officer Matthew Cranston, known by his enemies as Metal Man. Join Matthew and wage a one man war against crime and corruption on the mean streets of New York. Destroy all that the crime syndicate have built and take on their overlord, Frank Slayer in a confrontation that will decide the fate of the city! A game by Oleg Origin Instructions ------------ Once the game has loaded, you will be presented with the main menu. Here you can select your chosen control scheme as well as some other options, which can be accessed by pressing 5. This will give you the option of changing in-game difficulty and altering the way in which the background clouds are displayed, turning the clouds to "static" or "off" will gives a small performance increase in the game. Note: If you wish to change difficulty or the cloud settings, you must do so before you choose your control method. Once a control method is chosen, you cannot return to this menu. The Game -------- In the game you will pass through five levels in your quest to reach the underworld boss, Frank Slayer. Each level has a specific task that you must perform to pass to the next. You will be attacked by various enemies in each area. It is your choice to either destroy them or find a way around. Level 1: The Abandoned Building Collect all parts of the system control chip used to spread information through the gang's computer network. Find their computer and upload a virus (the right part of the building) before making your way to the exit. Level 2: The Junk Yard Find the gang's hidden armoury. In order to reach it, you must find a code that will allow you to access the crane. There are also other situations you must find a way out of. Level 3: Bombs in two buildings During the mission a countdown will run for both bombs. Two will detonate in total. If you can find a way to stop these explosions, you will save a lot of lives. Whether or not they explode, your main objective is to reach the motorcycle on the ground floor by navigating your way through both buildings. Level 4: The robot plant Destroy the three control terminals to put a stop to the gang's production of their armed automatons. Level 5: Frank Slayer's skyscraper Face off against your final enemy and the boss of the underworld, Frank Slayer. There are secrets on each level. Finding them is not required, but they can help you in your current mission and, also each secret found multiplies the points gained from that level. Fight through all the areas using brains and brute force to finally bring an end to the crime that plagues your city. Good luck, Metal Man - justice is on your side! Game Controls ------------- O - Left, P - Right, Q - Elevator Up/Point gun diagonally up/Enter vehicle, A - Crouch/Elevator Down/Take Object or other action depending on game situation, M - Fire There are different contrls for the vehicles that you will find in the game. Experiment to master their abilities and use them to your advantage. To exit the crane on the second level, return the electromagnet to its starting position in the top right corner near the cabin. Use down to hook items and fire to release them. Loading ------- LOAD"" (ENTER) 128K systems use Tape Loader. For 48K systems, the game will load in parts. The first part is the main menu and the first level. After this you will be required to load each level once you complete the level that is currently loaded. When prompted, press play on the tape. Once the level is loaded, stop the tape. If you die (after the first level) or complete the game, you will be asked to reload the first level to begin again. The first level is located around three minutes into the tape. You do not need to load the tape again all the way from the beginning. For 128K systems, the game loads all the levels at once. There is no need to manipulate the tape controls. The full loading time is around 12 minutes.
