Heritage ======== Heritage -------- A space adventure by Rafal Miazga. Includes bonus game Bloody Sands You are a space pilot on a dangerous mission to visit a mysterious asteroid that was once home to a group of brilliant but insane scientists. Reports suggest they made discoveries that could bring human science to a whole new level. With your spacecraft destroyed by the landing, you must first find a way of leaving the asteroid. You will need both quick reflexes and logical thinking to overcome the obstacles and accomplish your mission. Recover the long lost knowledge and escape. Discover your heritage. Instructions ------------ Upon loading the game, you will be presented with the main menu. From the menu, you can choose our preferred control scheme (keyboard or kempston joystick), to watch the game intro and to start the game. When watching the intro use FIRE to advance dialogues. There are also some hidden game settings available when on the main menu. Press 9 to toggle the sound of the jetpack in the game. When you are flying, your jetpack will emit a buzz. This is enabled by default; but if you find the sound off-putting you can choose silence. The border will flash green if the noise is on or red if it is muted. Press 0 to toggle the colour attributes of your character in the game. In Heritage, you can choose either to draw your character in colour and have some clash, or to have them adopt the same colour as background. Choose which one you like the best. By default your colour will override the backgrounds (this is our preferred option). Spacebase Objects ----------------- There are many useful objects scattered around the spacebase. You can pick them up by standing close to them and pressing Fire. There are two slots in your inventory where items can be placed. The last item you collected will be placed in the active slot. If there is already an item in the slot when Fire is pressed, it will be dropped. Only two items can be dropped in each game location. Manage your inventory accordingly. Each item has a special place where it can be used. It's up to you to discover where this is. Use items by pressing Fire when the item is highlighted in your inventory slot. If it can be used, it will be. Otherwise, it will be dropped. In some situations, later in the game, both items in your inventory will be necessary to perform an action. Actions ------- Apart from using items, you can also: 1. Read notes left in the spacebase by astronauts from the previous expedition. From these, you'll learn about the fate of the scientists and the expedition itself. 2. Collect disks containing scientific data. There are nine disks scattered across the asteroid. All of them must be collected before you will be able to accomplish your task. Your mission consists of collecting the disks, rescuing survivors from the lost expedition (if there are any!) and finally escaping from the asteroid. The entire base is full of automatic defence robots and other monsters. Touching them is deadly, so keep your distance to preserve your suit's energy. Menu ---- There is a menu in the top part of the screen that shows helpful information about your quest. There you can see: 1. The number of discs you have collected 2. The items you are carrying in both inventory slots 3. The number of lives you have left 4. The energy in your suit (when depleted, you lose a life) Enjoy the game - Mankind are counting on you to return in one piece with the knowledge that could save them!
