The Emperor Must Die ==================== The Plot -------- The Galactic Emperor has become so corrupt that, thoughout the inhabited planets of his empire, underground movements have been set up. These movements are looking for someone who has skill as a Rocket pilot, the eagle eye of a marksman gunner and the sheer determination and perspicacity to accept the almost impossible task of assassinating the Emperor. In a sense it seems inevitable that, following your joint success in Death Mines of Sirus (also for the Dragon), the underground will approach you and Captain Phoenix for this hazardous mission: your combined verve is legendary; your ranks of admirers legion. As you and the Captain weave your way through the action and the adventure and then the action (and then the adventure and back again...!), you will encounter much evil and receive little help. Indeed, you will spend hours, days and even months with but one thought: "The Emperor Must Die!" The Action ---------- 1. You will be asked for the name of the planet you wish to visit (or type ENTER). 2. You must reach the control tower of the planet you have selected avoiding the space mines, power barriers, etc. 3. The object is to visit eleven planets in total. You visit three of the first five planets after which you will be recruited by the underground and given the entry code to their computer (Adventure Part 1). After you complete Adventure Part 1, you will be given the names of the first five planets and the order in which to visit them. From there, you will be going back into the action game, then into the adventure and then back to the action until you eventually succeed. Further instructions will follow during the course of your mission. The Adventure ------------- 1. As you will have probably realised, this game is unlike any other Phoenix game. Usually, you must complete the action to discover the running code for the adventure cassette and then proceed from there. In this game you must alternate between action and adventure as the mission develops and the program dictates. 2. Within the three adventure sequences, there are 10 single word commands: N (North), S (South), E (East), W (West), Swim, Inventory, Run, Sleep, Bargain, Map. There are a number of two word commands consisting of a verb and a noun. The verbs are: Take, Throw, Break, Wear, Sharpen, Examine, Repair. The nouns are: Twine, Knife, Rocks, Beads, Wood, Spectacles, Glass, Paper, String, Metal, Boat, Hole.
