Double Agent ============ Double Agent ------------ Some vital plans have been stolen by a rival power, and you are sent to find them. Our intelligence is that they are held in the basement of their headquarters, to which there is only one entrance. Consult your personal dossier to choose a cover that suits you and looks the part where you need to search. The disguise may let you carry certain aids, and there is hardware you can take at your own risk. Read the descriptions of your stamina and language ability as your freedom or life may be saved by knowing your limits. Proceed steadily, rushing is tiring, but loitering arouses suspicion. You may be confronted at any moment, especially if your cover is no good. Seek clues in the rooms, the plans are there somewhere. Two "reserve" factors are shown: 1. "Cover" shows your score in the deception stakes. It falls when you behave suspiciously, and goes up as your bluffs raise false confidence. 2. "Physical" shows your strength, falling with exertion, and returning as you rest, as quickly as your stamina will allow. When exhausted you cannot move. (Time stops when you have option lists to read.) If a "fight" is started, use any key to attack. Your fate will depend on physical reserves, good timing and choice of weapon. To save game, you must be facing along a corridor. Hit BREAK and respond to the displayed prompts. Note this only preserves the computer's memory, you must remember the state of play too. Loading ------- SYSTEM (ENTER) D (ENTER) Reset tape counter and start cassette from beginning. The recording starts a little way into the tape so note counter number when asterisks appear. During loading you will see the copyright notice and the title page appear on the screen. The asterisks will not be seen on the title page, but if a loading error occurs a "C" will come up. When loading is nearly complete, the character palette for the game breaks up the titles and the game soon begins automatically. If a loading error occurs switch off the Genie and start again, incomplete loading can lock up the computer.
