Sceptre Of Baghdad: The Story ----------------------------- It was the first day of the year and the people had started to gather in the palace yard. At noon, the beloved Caliph must show the sacred sceptre to prove his rule to rule over the land of Baghdad. However, several hours earlier: The Caliph woke up in his bed feeling strange - everything around him seemed to have grown bigger. Nervously, he ran through his palace to the room where he kept his magic lamp. He climbed onto the table and polished the lamp until a genie appeared. "How can I help you, O master?" "Why am I so small?! What has happened to my palace?! What does all this mean?!" asked the Caliph. After an oppressive silence, the genie spoke again. "It seems that an evil wizard from a land across the Great Sea has conjured your palace full of demons and obstacles to prevent you from showing the sceptre at noon. He intends to divest you of all your power and become the Caliph himself." "What can I do? Can you help me?" asked the Caliph. "I am doomed to stay in this lamp," replied the genie. "But whenever I can, I will try to give you some helpful clues and I grant you the power to fire magic orbs that will destroy some of the demons sent by the Wizard." As Mike "Mad Dog" MacTavish and Singh "Big Bang" Kapoor returned to their desks at the EuroCity Police HQ after a brief "vacation" in Greece, piles of paperwork greeted them. Their superiors had assigned them off the streets and into their office, so to speak. However, as Christmas came closer, crime decided to start the rush early. On the very Christmas Eve, EuroCity experienced an extremely bizarre crimewave. The mafia, the Neo-Nazis, and a group of religious fundamentalists had temporarily united to strike at the following targets simultaneously: 1. The EuroCity Bank 2. The Northern Integrated Suburbs 3. The Evergreen Indoor Dinosaur Park 4. The Northern City Air Terminal Suddenly, the Police office was receiving emergency calls from all over the 20-million metropolis. Every available man, woman and police-dog were summonded... but the crooks had already sabotaged the EuroCity Relay Station, blocking most phone calls to vacant officers. And so it came to be that Mike and Singh, who were forced to work late at the office on Christmas Eve, were assigned to clean up EuroCity North... alone. "Thanks a lot, Santa!"
