Sceptre Of Baghdad ------------------ The Story --------- It was the first day of the year and the people had started to gather in the palace yard. At noon, the beloved Caliph must show the sacred sceptre to prove his rule to rule over the land of Baghdad. However, several hours earlier: The Caliph woke up in his bed feeling strange - everything around him seemed to have grown bigger. Nervously, he ran through his palace to the room where he kept his magic lamp. He climbed onto the table and polished the lamp until a genie appeared. "How can I help you, O master?" "Why am I so small?! What has happened to my palace?! What does all this mean?!" asked the Caliph. After an oppressive silence, the genie spoke again. "It seems that an evil wizard from a land across the Great Sea has conjured your palace full of demons and obstacles to prevent you from showing the sceptre at noon. He intends to divest you of all your power and become the Caliph himself." "What can I do? Can you help me?" asked the Caliph. "I am doomed to stay in this lamp," replied the genie. "But whenever I can, I will try to give you some helpful clues and I grant you the power to fire magic orbs that will destroy some of the demons sent by the Wizard." Game Objective -------------- The Caliph must find the sceptre of Baghdad and walk with it to the palace balcony. Objects ------- When the Caliph picks up an object, this will be replaced with the current object in the display. Use F1 to swtich the object in the display so that it cannot be dropped. Up to four objects can be carried at any time. Some puzzles require more than one object. Hints And Tips -------------- 1. Lamp You can ask the genie for clues using the hanky on the lamp. The controls have also been specially modified and improved. Escape From Arth - 2008 Special Edition --------------------------------------- Supernova of the Star Sirius immintent... Turn off generators to open gateways... Find five access codes and seek launch craft to enter and escape... before the blast destroys Arth... Message ends... Hints And Tips -------------- Look for a lever with the same colour as a blocking wall - these are the main connection. Disabling a generator will open a wall; this gives you access to more of the planet! Objects dropped by destroyed RFOs disappear after a short while so make sure you are quick to collect them. Glowing objects denote a weapon power-up. If you collect the Nuke Bomb your next three shots will destroy all the RFOs on the screen - so make them count! During play you'll discover pointing arrows - these indicate a doorway entrance and also tell you which way it's header. When you locate an energy lever or ammo pod, walk over to it to switch off or collect respectively. When you shoot certain RFO's they will drop an object that you can collect. These objects will either increase your score or improve your weaponry. Finally, try to remember what's in each room as you play so you know what's coming up next time. The key to completion of this game is careful planning; more than just blasting (Don't forget you've only got a limited supply of ammo and time before Arth is destroyed!) Let the mission begin! Game Controls ------------- Use a joystick plugged into port 2 to control Voto or Veti Left/Right while on foot - Run left/right Up - Thrust upwards using Super Jetpac (Left and Right to thrust in that direction) Down while standing still - Enter doorway to new location Fire - Shoot Plasma Gun Other secondary controls are: F1 - Choose Male/Female player, F3 - Sound Effects On/Off, F5 - Select difficulty level Scoring ------- 100 points are awarded for every new screen you enter. 100-1,000 points are awarded for various collectables and power-ups 2,000 points are awarded for disabling a generator (switching off a lever) 5,000 points are awarded for escaping from Arth 10,000 points are awarded for destroying the giant RFO (Robot Flying Object) An extra life is awarded every 100,000 points.
