Brainstorm ========== Introduction ------------ A unique game of skill, logic, memory and nerve. For two players only. By Greg Choppen. This unique game is for two players and is of the brain versus brain type - in more ways than one. Each player has to try and kill his opponent's brain by using a laser beam, but at the same time he must protect his own brain from attack. Sounds easy, but scattered around the board (and there's a choice of three layouts) are electro-prisms which deflect the laser beams. The pre-laid prisms have an unknown Deflection Factor - until you hit them. Discover the Deflection Factor at your peril; one wrong move could kill your own brain! Each player can also place prisms to guide his own beam into the brain of his opponent. They also deflect the opposing side's laser. A game of great skill and concentration; a bit like chess with lasers - only better. How To Play ----------- Brainstorm is a two player game in which each player attempts to deflect his high energy laser beam into his opponent's 'brain' using light prisms which can be set to deflect the lasers in any one of eight directions. When the game has loaded, there will be a number of options to choose before the game starts. Firstly, the board layout must be chosen. There are three different layouts, each consisting of a number of electro-prisms in various patterns. There EPs all have pre-set random Deflection Factors (DFs). Also on the board are the "brains". Protect yours at all costs! The second option is how long the lasers are visible. The quicker they vanish, the harder to work out your next move! 1. Prisms cannot be placed directly adjacent to a brain. 2. Prisms cannot be placed directly in front of a laser. 3. Prisms can only be placed on empty squares, not on top of other prisms or EPs. 4. To place a prism enter the Row then Column then Deflection Factor (see below). 5. A player may, instead of placing a Prism, move his laser. To do this, you must press P followed by row number, e.g. if you wish to place your laser firing into row D then press P, D. Remember to not only attack your opponent's brain, but also to defend your own. It is possible to use your opponent's laser to destroy his brain, but be wary of him doing the same! Don't put prisms too near your laser as this makes play difficult later on. A laser beam can pass through 25 prisms before running out of power. If all empty squares are filled then the game is a draw. To restart the game press ESCAPE. Loading ------- CHAIN"" (RETURN)
