Fitness Check ============= Fitness Check ------------- Fitness Check is an easy-to-use menu-driven interactive program based on the latest scientific assessments of exercise and sports activities for people of all ages. The program enables you to: 1. Calculate your fitness rating from the results of the internationally accepted twelve minute running test 2. Plan your week from a range of eighteen activities in accompanying booklet. 3. Keep a diary of the activities actually carried out during each week and the ratings you have achieved. 4. Keep a weekly diary of activity ratings to give a long term view of your performance. 5. Watch your weight week by week and shows how you differ from ideal (the program calculates this from your height and sex). In all, Fitness Check is ideal for all the family simply by using separate data tapes for each individual. Introduction ------------ The 18 sports and activities included in Fitness Check are as follows: 1. Aerobics 2. Badminton 3. Basketball 4. Calisthenics 5. Circuits 6. Cycling 7. Football 8. Golf 9. Hockey 10. Lacrosse 11. Rowing 12. Rugby 13. Running 14. Skating 15. Squash 16. Swimming 17. Tennis 18. Volleyball In all, Fitness Check is ideal for all the family simply by using separate data tapes for each individual. Note: Please remember that, if you are in any doubt concerning your ability to pursue a particular activity for any duration, consult your doctor first. Using The Program ----------------- If the program is being used for the first time, or for a new member of the family, enter N to the question "Do you have an existing data to load? (Y/N)" and the program will go on to ask for the following initial data: Your name...? Your sex (M/F)...? Your age...? Your height (inches)...? Start date (DD/MM/YY)...? Is the above entry correct? (Y/N) The initial data is the basic information needed for the program to operate and has only to be entered once. You will save this data at the end of the program (see below). Note: Please ensure that data entered is correct and use 6-figure format for all dates e.g. 01/06/84. Saving Data ----------- If at the end of a session with the program, new data entries have been made it must be re-saved on the data cassette. You are automatically prompted to do this when Quit program is selected from the main menu. Operating The Program --------------------- Once the program and the initial data (if being used for the first time) or existing data from the data cassette have been loaded, you may select one of the options from the main menu. These are as follows: 1. Running test 2. Activity planner 3. Weekly diary 4. Weekly totals 5. Weight watcher 6. Quit program Enter 1 to 6 for your option, each of which is colour coded. 1. Ratings achieved in the running test are both age and sex dependent, and due to the nature of the test and the calculations, the category thresholds are at a different level compared to those given in the rest of the program. 2. (Y/N) Enter (C) to clear table As the name suggests, this table allows you to plan a week's activities and will ask you relevant questions about the ones you choose to pursue from the 18 included in the program. Enter Y and the sports will be displayed for you under the table. Now enter the number before your chosen activity and answer the subsequent questions. 3. Enter Y and the sports and activities will be displayed for you below the table, enter the relevant number and answer the questions. As this is a weekly diary, the dates that you enter must be within seven day intervals with respect to the start date entered during the initial data. You will notice the week number at the top of the table change as you enter more data. Weekly totals can be transferred or disregarded by entering T or C as described below the table. 4.
