Musictools ========== Musictools ---------- These programs enable you to delve into the intricacies of the BBC's sound system. There are over 60 procedures, divided into five programs. By using combinations of these procedures, more complex and personally tailored programs may be created. All the programs are fully documented, either on-screen or by the use of REMs. The five programs are: Part 1 ------ 1. Tunes Build on a Chord Sequence Produces a chord sequence, then a simple tune based on that sequence, followed by a quaver variation of it. All this is displayed, both on the stave and on an animated keyboard which prints the letter being played on the keys. Variations of the chord, tune and quaver pattern are given by a single key input. Beat-by-beat playing is also possible. 2. All Singing and Dancing Organ Provides seven octaves, using the Shift keys and a two-octave keyboard, and includes a couple of octaves below those mentioned in the User Guide. Tunes may be replayed at the same speed, slower, transposed, or altered in rhythem. There is also a delete facility. This program will play either exactly what you entered or a smoothed-out version. Note that the keyboard 'feel' is meant to be slow to encourage accurate use. To change the rhythm use the 'Alter' key. Part 2 ------ 1. Tunetool An easy way to play tunes in one of more parts from data. A demonstration tune is included. 2. Cheftool Draws staves, clef signs, bar lines, repeat signs, key signatures, time signatures, etc. in up to 26 different sizes. In the sizes below half screen height the whole repertoire can be on screen together, making this option ideal for class demonstration. 3. Envtool All the sound parameters in a particular envelope are shown on screen and may be altered by using the cursor keys for instant changes in the sound and noise channels. This is a powerful program in its own right. Running And Listing ------------------- Press ESCAPE to go back to the Main Menu for the part.
