One of the best versions of the veteran text adventure genres on offer.
Basic Mathematics (Scetlander)
It's all rather uninspiring in terms of colour and use of graphics but the Basic Mathematics suite does act as a very helpful reinforcement aid for the slower learner.
Beyond The Ice Palace (Elite)
Makes for a slick, playable and extremely compelling fantasy arcade adventure.
Bionic Commandos (Go!)
Some may say the scrolling's a bit jerky, but that's only because it's terrifically fast - thus keeping the action coming at break-neck speed.
Buggy Boy (Elite)
If only the programmers had concentrated on making the game playable and addictive while ignoring the impressive visual aspects they'd have had an OutRun challenger on their hands.
The graphics are colourful, the Phibiatrons are carefully drawn and the gameplay is complicated enough to keep you playing for more than a couple of hours.
Starring Charlie Chaplin (US Gold)
Would be a fantastic game if only it had more variety. But all you have to do is knock people over. That's it!
If you're looking for a tougher-than-average shoot 'em up this might just be the one!
Don't waste your money on Cyberknights, you'll just be very disappointed.
This game will take much time and energy but is well worth persevering with.
Enter At Your Own Risk (Teenware)
A competently presented and, on the whole, enjoyable adventure with one or two strikingly innovative features.
Freedom Fighter (The Power House)
If only the programmer had spent as long on the game as he did drawing his self-portrait on the title screen we might have had a fun little game.
Front-Line (Zeppelin Games)
Charging through the undergrowth at breakneck speed is initially quite addictive but the lastability of the appeal is doubtful.
Gutz (Ocean/Special FX)
Gutz isn't a disaster. It's just not as nauseating or exciting as it claims to be.
The Jade Stone (Marlin Games)
The unusual and light-hearted tone should appeal to beginners and veteran adventurers alike. You can't afford to miss this.
Kingdom Of Hamil (Topologika)
A maze-based adventure with a difference, Kingdom Of Hamil is bound to appeal to avid mapmakers.
Lazer Tag (Go!)
You could do worse than this unexceptional, but competent, tag 'em up.
Venom Strikes Back (Gremlin)
Brilliant colour, fantastic sound and there's even a good game in there somewhere.
A very poor attempt at an earthbound 3-D Starfighter (itself a very simple game).
Psycho Pigs U.X.B. (US Gold)
The arena which could have been bursting with humorous activity just looks pale, tired and wan. Probably one of those conversions which is unlikely to hog the limelight for very long.
Sabotage (Zeppelin Games)
If you're after a simple and cheap Lightforce clone then Sabotage may appeal to you.
Shanghai Karate (Players)
Graphics and sound are the only real drawing points of the game. Overall attraction diminishes after a few games due to the vapid gameplay.
Street Fighter (Go!)
If you're looking for a quick trip around the world beating people up, then look no further - Street Fighter is here.
There is little if any strategy involved in Virus but even so, it's a well-presented, playable shoot-'em-up.
Voice Editor And File Manager
It has a copious and very neat file/voice management system that takes advantage of the DX's ability to 'bulk dump'.
