Five Star Games

Following their excellent value-for-money compilations (10 Computer Hits 1-3), Beau Jolly has released another very good collection. The two tape pack contains Geoff Capes Strongman (Martech), Death Star (Superior), Twin Kingdom Valley (Bug-Byte), Repton (Superior) and Combat Lynx (Durell). I'm sure you'll already know know if not all of these games but just in case...

Geoff Capes Strongman is yet another of the endless series of sports simulations, made different by the need to tone up muscles and then use different groups of them to tackle the various challenges. Not one of my favourite games but fun to try.

Death Star is the computer version of the arcade classic Sinistar - gather bombs by shooting asteroids, shoot down the other ships and then destroy the Sinistar/Deathstar on various different levels. A great game that should be in the collection of any shoot-'em-up fan.

Twin Kingdom Valley is one of those rare beasts on the BBC; an illustrated adventure. Not for the experienced perhaps, but good to see it available again.

What can one say about Repton? Now with two sequels to this classic, the original still looks fresh and addictive. Collect diamonds, avoid dropping boulders, traps and monsters. Every reader of The Arcade column should own this game!

Combat Lynx is a rather overlooked flying/fighting simulation that I enjoy more every time I return to it. Not easy to play, but it repays the effort.

All in all an excellent collection for the price of one new game! How can you go wrong?
