Enthar Seven (Robico) (Acorn Electron)
If you own a disc drive and like adventure games, then don't hesitate to buy Enthar Seven - you won't regret it.
Shanghai (Software Express) (BBC/Electron)
Shanghai is good fun and certainly does get addictive but be warned that it is not easy.
Drain Mania (Icon) (Acorn Electron)
I like this game immensely. It is classy, difficult and downright addictive.
Hampstead (Melbourne House) (BBC/Electron)
Hampstead scores well for original and amusing content, but suffers from a number of technical deficiencies in construction which I believe will irritate the seasoned adventurer.
Battlefields (BBC Soft) (BBC/Electron)
Strongly recommended. Great skill is required to judge the likely position and movement of enemy forces and to coordinate one's own armies to maximum effect.
Birdie Barrage (CDS) (Acorn Electron)
The graphics are ordinary and the sound non-existent though it proves fun to play.
Share Analyser (Synergy) (BBC/Electron)
If you are considering purchasing an analysis program of this sort then it would be worth "investing" a few pounds extra in the disc version.
An Introduction To Random Access Filing On The BBC Micro (C. J. Morris) (BBC Model B)
I hope we'll get a revised edition of this. The treatment of random access filing is by no means exhaustive and I felt particularly that the use of index files and the problems of sorting large random access fields were given inadequate coverage.
Emerald Isle (Level 9) (BBC Model B)
A well-constructed and enjoyable adventure, although I found the graphics added very little.
This program could appeal to those needing to keep limited records of personal accounts but for me, as a confirmed spreadsheet user, it is too restrictive and I would much rather have the flexibility to design accounts completely to my own specifications.
Chicane (Kempston) (BBC Model B)
A racing game that will keep you coming back for a new challenge.
