B's A Bargain

At first sight, Plan B from Bug Byte is just another arcade-puzzle game. But I've played it for about a week now and discovered, to my cost, that it's very hard indeed.

The game itself is very well laid out with a high-score table and on-screen instructions. Movement is very smooth and the detail surprisingly good, although sadly the graphics are only in black and white.

The sound is a different story - a few laser effects and a boring explosion effect let the game down. Even worse is the little tune at the start which goes on and on.

This game is really just another Jet Set Willy. Our hero is sent in to destroy the parts of a computer and then escape. Lots of spares are conveniently left lying around and you pick these up for extra ammo or energy. As usual there is a hitch. Other droids are out to stop you, and there are traps for the unwary: after going down one passage I entered the next screen and found myself trapped in a small box. In all, Plan B is a good little game that makes you think. And for £1.99 (on cassette only) it's a bargain.
